Yoga-Informed Therapy

Limited Engagement: Now Through May

What is Yoga-Informed Therapy?

Yoga-informed therapy integrates movement, breath, and mindfulness with psychotherapy to help you integrate thoughts, sensations, and emotions and connect with yourself on a deeper level.

By incorporating the body into healing, yoga-informed therapy helps release stuck emotions, regulate the nervous system, and create a sense of safety within. It’s not about mastering poses—it’s about reconnecting with yourself, listening to your body’s wisdom, and finding healing beyond words.

Yoga-informed therapy may be especially helpful if you've tried traditional talk therapy but feel like something is missing. You want more. You’ve talked yourself in circles, but now you need to move it—feel it—process it through your body.

How Yoga-Informed Therapy Can Help

Trauma-sensitive yoga offers a way to reconnect with your body safely and gently. Through breath, movement, and mindful awareness, you can begin to:

  • Befriend your body and sensations rather than fear them.

  • Expand your capacity to tolerate discomfort and find ease.

  • Cultivate a sense of inner safety, trust, and self-acceptance.

  • Learn tools to regulate your nervous system and reduce stress.

Trauma-sensitive yoga is about choice, empowerment, and reconnecting with yourself at your own pace. There are no expectations — only an invitation to move and breathe in a way that feels right for you.

Yoga-Informed FAQs: From Natalie

What should I bring?

Please bring a yoga mat and water. You may also want to bring a sweatshirt or cozy sweater to put on at the end of class for shavasana (our final, reclined resting pose). We'll have a couple mats available to rent.

What should I wear?

Please wear something comfortable in which you can move easily.

Do I need to have experience with yoga?

No prior yoga experience is necessary. This is not a traditional yoga class but a therapeutic approach that integrates movement, breath, and mindfulness. All movements can be modified to fit your comfort level.

What can I expect in a session?

Each session is unique and tailored to your needs. It may include gentle movement, breathwork, meditation, guided reflection, and traditional talk therapy elements. The focus is on processing emotions and experiences through both the mind and body.

Is this a workout?
No, yoga-informed therapy is not about fitness or achieving specific poses. It’s about using movement as a tool for self-awareness, healing, and emotional processing.

Do I have to talk during the session?
Talking is welcome but not required. Some sessions may involve more movement and mindfulness, while others may include verbal processing—it all depends on what feels most supportive for you.
